Lift repairs in Kent
Start with what the lift is doing.
You do not need a part number or a diagnosis to ask for help. Tell us which lift is affected, what has happened and whether anyone is inside. For an urgent breakdown, call rather than sending an online enquiry.
We confirm availability for your site and discuss access. After investigating, we explain what can be done during the visit and whether parts, a quotation or further attendance are needed.
01
The lift has stopped
Doors that will not close, a lift that does not respond to calls or a fault indication all need the cause established. We investigate the relevant door, control and drive equipment and record the lift’s status at handover.
One-off attendance can be arranged even if another company maintains the lift. Tell us about any work already in progress.
Intermittent problems may not be present when an engineer arrives. Previous job sheets, available fault records and a description of when the problem occurs help us decide what to investigate.
We explain what the evidence shows and whether further diagnostic work is needed.
We support nearly all lift brands, including older installations. We assess repairability, compatibility and available equipment before recommending a replacement. A lift’s age alone does not tell us which work it needs.
The fault may be on site. The repair may be on the bench.
Our engineering and technical workshop in Rochester carries out electronic repairs and advanced diagnostics on lift equipment. Control boards and drives are assessed case by case, giving us another route to consider alongside replacement.
Some faults involve the component itself; others come from the installation around it. We agree the assessment needed before equipment is removed or sent to the workshop.
Share the lift details, component reference and symptoms. We discuss whether on-site investigation or workshop assessment is appropriate.
02
Agree the work
Repair options depend on the unit, its condition and parts availability. The assessment and proposed work are agreed for that component.
03
Plan the return to service
Workshop work alone does not confirm the lift is ready to run. Reinstallation, commissioning and checks on the lift must also be addressed.
Lift maintenance in Kent
A plan for the next visit. And the years after it.
Planned preventative maintenance is arranged around your lift’s equipment, condition and use. We agree the visit schedule and record the checks, findings and follow-up on each maintenance job sheet.
Moving your maintenance to Forge?
Send us the lift details, recent service records, outstanding repair quotations and any examination reports. These help establish the starting condition and the work already identified.
Check the end date and notice requirements of your current agreement so we can discuss a suitable handover. For several sites, list each lift against its building address.
An agreed number of preventative maintenance visits, priority attendance over non-contracted clients, reduced labour rates, and consumables such as lubricants and cleaning materials.
Call-outs and repairs are charged separately.
IntermediateStandard benefits, with call-out charges included
Includes the Standard benefits with no call-out charge. Repairs are still charged.
At least six planned maintenance visits per year.
ComprehensiveCover tailored to the individual lift
A dilapidation report records the lift’s condition before selected parts of the installation are included in the cover. Labour, parts and exclusions are defined in the agreement.
Attendance terms and the scope of cover are confirmed in your agreement.
Planning work on an existing lift
Know what needs attention before committing to an upgrade.
If there are several outstanding issues, an engineering assessment can help establish the lift’s condition and the scope of work. We can discuss repairs and selected upgrades in the context of the whole installation.
Door operators, worn door parts, controls and drives may be considered as part of the findings. We supply and install suitable equipment; compatibility and the work required are confirmed by quotation.
Share the report so we can discuss any remedial work or specified supplementary tests. For the examination itself, we can help arrange an independent third-party provider.
Please contact us before an office or workshop visit, or before sending equipment.
Where we work
We support buildings across Kent and Medway. These are established coverage locations; send your full site postcode if your town is not listed.
Kent
Dartford, Gravesend, Maidstone, Ashford, Canterbury, Margate and Ramsgate.
Medway
Rochester, Chatham, Gillingham, Rainham and Strood.
Attendance is confirmed for your particular site and the work required. Tell us about access restrictions, the number of lifts and who can meet the engineer.
Call 020 7097 8588 with the site postcode and fault details. Our breakdown phone line is available 24/7. We confirm available attendance when you contact us; timing depends on the site, access and engineer availability.
Can I bring a control board or drive to Rochester?
Speak to us first so we can agree whether workshop assessment is suitable and how the equipment should reach us. Send the unit reference, lift details and fault history you already have. Removal and reinstallation need to be arranged with the engineer responsible for the work on the lift.
We assess each unit individually; some faults or parts cannot be repaired. Testing limits and any further work are recorded.
Can you quote before visiting the lift?
Send the address, equipment details and any existing findings or photographs. We can discuss the information available and whether an attendance or further assessment is needed before a repair quotation. For a breakdown, the fault may need to be investigated first.
Will every visit produce a detailed technical report?
The record matches the work. Maintenance visits have service findings, call-outs record attendance and handover status, and workshop work records the component assessment, repair and testing. Detailed technical investigations have a different scope. See the different job sheets.
Can Forge carry out our LOLER examination?
We do not carry out LOLER examinations in-house. We can help arrange an examination with an independent third-party provider, or introduce you so you can arrange it directly. Servicing, repairs and engineering condition surveys are separate from that examination.
