Start with the decision you need to make. We’ll agree the assessment and the record you need before the visit.
Not sure which fits? Tell us what you need to understand and we’ll help agree the appropriate scope.
If your concern is about maintenance or completed work, we focus the inspection on that question. We can review lifts maintained by another contractor.
Maintenance-quality review
Share the concerns and service records available. We review the equipment’s upkeep within the agreed scope and consider whether the records help explain its condition.
Recent service records, recurring faults and the maintenance cover you understand to be in place.
Observations on the areas reviewed, any gaps in the available information and matters to discuss with your maintenance provider. A visit cannot verify every previous service or reconstruct missing records.
Discuss a maintenance reviewCompleted-repair review
Share the original problem and the work recorded as completed. We agree which aspects to review, including relevant operational checks where appropriate.
The original fault, repair quotation or job report, what has changed since the work and any symptoms that remain.
What we observed in the reviewed areas and whether further investigation is recommended. This is not a certificate for all completed work or a guarantee that an intermittent fault will not return.
Discuss a repair reviewIf the lift is currently out of service and you need it repaired, start with fault investigation and repairs.
A defined scope makes the visit useful and the findings relevant to your decisions.
Share the lift details, relevant records and what you want to know. We’ll discuss the inspection scope, quotation and arrangements for access.
Our engineer reviews the lift against the agreed scope. We’ll discuss any restrictions or areas that need a separate investigation.
We record the observations and recommendations, then discuss what they mean and the next steps for your lift.
A useful record
Your record explains what was assessed, what we observed and what we recommend next. It gives you something concrete to discuss with your maintenance provider, facilities team or other decision-makers.
We distinguish observations from matters that could not be checked. Concealed components, access restrictions or intermittent symptoms may call for a separate investigation.

Forge lifts are run by two extremely knowledgeable and attentive people in the form of Jacob and Liam. They simply couldn't do enough for me when I experienced a breakdown on a lift I was examining, and it wasn't even a lift they maintain! Within a few minutes, I had the lift back in service because of the help they gave. They simply aim to offer the highest level of service they can and it shows. Having examined a few lifts they service, I can honestly say they keep their lifts in stellar condition and the reliability is always high. They'll move heaven and earth to ensure any issues are resolved quickly whether you're the duty holder of the lift or an insurance inspector. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
Excellent service and knowledge with work carried out in a quick, clean and professional manner, and would recommend Forge to anyone and would use them again without question.
After dealing with numerous lift companies over a 4 year period, I found Forge Lifts. They are truly amazing from prompt responses to emails/calls, competent engineers. Highly recommended and I would not hesitate to recommend them

Locations we coverThe words can overlap. Here, a condition survey considers the installation’s overall condition within an agreed scope; a modernisation survey supports upgrade planning. An inspection can focus on maintenance quality or particular completed repairs. The purpose, checks and record agreed before the visit matter more than the label.
No. This service reviews the lift’s condition, upkeep or particular concerns within an agreed scope. It does not replace a thorough examination under LOLER. Forge does not carry out LOLER examinations in-house; we can help arrange one through an independent third-party provider or make an introduction.
Yes. Our inspections can provide a second opinion on the condition and upkeep of a lift maintained by another contractor. Tell us what you want reviewed and share the maintenance records or repair information available.

Some checks may require the lift to be taken out of use during the inspection. We’ll discuss access and any expected disruption when agreeing the scope and timing of the visit.
